When David “L. D.” Nigro designs a new pair of Anderson Bean Exclusives, he considers the thousands of customers he’s talked to on the floor of Nigro’s boot department for the better part of the last 20 years. The boot styles they like, the leathers they prefer, the color combinations that work just right – and the multitude of stitch patterns that have come and gone over the years. No question about it, you learn a lot talking – and listening – to cowboy boot customers.
L.D. is gifted with natural design talent when it comes to creating new Nigro’s Exclusives from Anderson Bean, but its been informed over the years by the customers that visit Nigro’s Western Store. Since these Exclusive styles are not available anywhere else, he wants to get them just right. For certain, he takes pride in the look and feel of a great new pair of cowboy boots he’s designed, but he’s even happier about how excited customers get with the arrival of new styles of Anderson Bean Exclusives from Nigro’s
The design process for L.D. is meticulous, as he carefully selects each boot component for a new Exclusive – from vamp leather and toe profile to the color of thread carefully chosen for a specific stitch pattern. In addition to his time on the retail boot floor at Nigro’s, L.D. has spent years learning the boot business from the expert craftsmen at the Anderson Bean factory in Mercedes, Texas. To this day, L.D. makes multiple trips to the Anderson Bean factory just to check out materials, styles, colors, and processes. All those experiences with customers and manufacturing continue to influence L.D.’s work – and make him a true artist in boot design.
